Thanks for the informative links. This is one of the fundamental problem cropping up from military control. The civil enclave is practically a black box when it comes to integrity of information for comparison and benchmarking purposes in civil aviation. The Navy statements about Dabolim (and even Seabird NAS) which we have to rely on do not have much credence in my opinion. They seem to be motivated by the need to justify their continuation there. The 11,000 figure I have used may be due to rounding of 10,500 given by a visiting Naval top brass a few months ago. I personally think the ets-news site probably has the more credible information compared to airport city codes which may be outdated and minimal. Recently someone informed me that he had "seen" a charter 747 (jumbo jet) at Dabolim. And he knows something about planes. Unfortunately goanetters have not been too forthcoming about their real experiences with Dabolim so far so we are not able to develop a composite picture of this critical facility. Officially Dabolim is supposed to be "wide body" capable though that might just mean Airbus aircraft so far somewhat smaller than 747s. I dont know what their comparative runway requirements are. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Goa - 2005 Santosh Trophy Champions | | | | Support Soccer Activities at the grassroots in our villages | | Vacationing in Goa this year-end - Carry and distribute Soccer Balls | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
