Hi Gabriel
I am familiar with the story about Goan worker expertise being discovered by the Brits during the Napoleonic wars. I'd like to read some of this in texts if possible.
Thanks again
Cornel

Hi Aloysius
Here's just a short response to your post.
In an increasingly globalised world, there is an
accelerated and substantial
movement of people everywhere. In Goa this movement
began over a century ago
and that is why there is a large Goan Diaspora.

If I may add, the movement appears to have started
right after the Napoleanic wars, when the Brits (who
were stationed in Goa during that period) discovered
that Goans made good butlers, waiters and cooks, were
sufficiently 'westernised' and loved to travel (as
opposed to the rest of Indians who were afraid of
crossing the Kala Pani) - I suppose that was the
beginning of the ABC era!

Cheers,

Gabriel.
