Sonia asks Congress to fight female foeticide Hyderabad | January 24, 2006 1:15:19 AM IST Congress president Sonia Gandhi Monday asked her party workers to launch a campaign against social evils, especially female foeticide. Making her concluding remarks on the last day of a three-day party plenary session, she voiced concern at female foeticide and the resultant decline in the women's ratio in the population. "It is not the job of women alone to fight against this evil," Gandhi said, asking the youth and students wings of the Congress to help create awareness about such issues. "Such evils are a blot on society. We all should work to eliminate them," she exhorted 20,000 delegates. Gandhi also asked the party to recruit volunteers for the fight against social evils.
