Probe not just error, but every decision of ref: Remedios HERALD SPORTS REPORTER
PANJIM, FEB 5 - Mr Tony Remedious, former senior Vice-President of Goa Football Association and President of Saligao Sporting Club has demanded that every move of referee's in a match should be investigated, rather than just a specific error, so as rule whether the referee was being influenced or not. Mr Remedios said that although it is unfortunate that Mr Mickky Pacheco had to take the drastic decision of not permitting his team to take the field unless AIFF gave his club justice, with regards to referee P Bikramjit's error, it is high time that the All India Football Federation wake up and takes serious note of defaulting referees, in the interests of the game's future. Mr Remedios pointed out that over the past few years it has been noted that smaller clubs in the National Football League when playing against bigger clubs have been constantly at the receiving end. Substantiating his point, Mr Remedios recalled at how Churchill Brothers and Vasco Sports Club were victims of bad refereeing last season and that despite their strong protests to the AIFF, nothing came about it. This paid dearly for these Goan clubs, who in the final analysis were missing crucial points that would have come handy in staving off relegation. Mr Remedious said that a strong belief amongst football aficionados is beginning to take shape, wherein it appears that there is a systematic ploy to eliminate the number of Goan teams in the National Football League. He pointed out that many of the fans have expressed to him these doubt. If this seems true then the future of Goan football appears bleak. If Fransa disbands, it would be a major blow for Goan football, has the careers of many Goans players would be badly affected. Mr Remedios further added that there appears to be lack of communication and co-ordination amongst the Local Organizing Committee, the Goa Football Association and the AIFF. This is evident from media reports that Mr Savio Messias was left alone to handle the fracas alone with no other official in sight and had there been a substantial capacity crowd the situation would have been much worse. What if someone had lost his life, asked Tony, specially in the light of a handful of security personal present at the stadium on that fateful night. Mr Remedious has requested the GFA to urge the AIFF not only probe into a specific errors but in fact to investigate every move of the referee from the beginning of the match, so as to establish whether the man in black was biased. The AIFF must keep a dossier on every referee and follow every move of his to ascertain if the referee is corrupt and is acting on behalf of bigger clubs to eliminate smaller clubs, specially those from Goa or else football's future is bleak.
