Fatal hit-and-run mishap at Pernem NT News Service Mapusa Feb 10: An unidentified man aged between 45 and 50 years was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the National Highway-17 at Malpem in Pernem last night, Pernem police said.
The dead body of the man was discovered today morning and Pernem police were informed around 7.30 a.m. There are no eyewitnesses to give clues about the killer vehicle nor are there any clues to the identity of the victim. The police said they only found a cigarette packet on his body. The police said the man is 5.5 feet tall, has a beard and moustache but is bald, is dark complexioned and was wearing a blue checked full-sleeved shirt and blackish trousers. On his right forearm is a tattoo 'RKS.' The police took his body to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for the post-mortem. The victim received serious injuries to his back, internal injuries to the abdomen and a fracture on his left leg. The body is now kept in the GMC morgue. The Pernem police sub-inspector, Mr P Phadte is investigating.
