DABOLIM NAVAL AIRPORT, MOPA AIRPORT AND NUCLEAR
DOCTRINES.

1.How very "convenient" for Philip to dismiss
"defence modelling" by referring to adjectives like
"acute" observations by other postees. WHETHER ACUTE
OR OBTUSE THESE HAVE NOT BEEN MATRIXED INTO ANY REAL
ANALYSIS REQUIRED OF SUCH ISSUES. Glibness cannot
replace genuine debate,whether acute,obtuse, right
angled,flat,buxom,concave,convex or circular.
2.Seems as if certain persons are intentionally
missing relevant considerations for reasons which
cannot be charitably fathomed.
3.Whilst the Naval presence at Dabolim is a national
defence imperative, the airport at Mopa is a civilian
neccessity to improve, deepen, distribute the density
and benefits of civil aviation penetration in Goa.The
airport at Mopa would also take the "heat" off
Dabolim, besides lending strategic breadth and depth
to defence. Two airports ,it is simple to appreciate
generate better options than one.MY GRANDMOTHERS VIEW:
DONT PUT YOUR EGGS/ CIGAR BUTTS IN ONE BASKET.
4. In the light of Indias declared policy of "NO FIRST
USE OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS", it stands to reason that "AN
ASSURED/GUARANTEED RESPONSE THAT ENSURES ANNIHILATION
OF ADVERSARY" would dictate a "thickening" of response
,defence and attack capability. This is also the
reasoning behind seeking to multiply Submarine strike
capability --whether conventional or nuclear based.
5.NOT EVERYTHING NUCLEAR IS BAD/TABOO. In this
connection please refer to the worlds STRATEGIC shift
to NUCLEAR ENERGY as eventual substitute for fossil
fuels, as also appreciate the fallouts of such
substitution against despot MONARCHIES of the World.
6. Can we agree to look beyond the pink booties ?
Regards,
Gerry.
