'Students can create awareness about ill effects of plastic' NT News Service Vasco, Feb 19: The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson, Mr Sharad Chopdekar stated that students are the link to the citizens as they have the capacity to make people aware about the ill effects of the plastic. He was addressing the students of Shree Susenashram High School in a function organised by the school in order to create an anti-plastic awareness among the citizens. On the occasion the MMC chief officer, Mr Elvis Gomes, MMC councillor, Mr Milind Naik, headmaster of the school, Mr Suhas Mhambre and Mr Rajesh Redkar were present. Speaking further, Mr Chopdekar said that plastic is non-degradable and causes great harm to living organisms. He also said that the plastics are very harmful to the environment and can cause a negative impact on nature. Mr Chopdekar asked students to make people aware of the ill effects of plastic and explain to them the importance of not using the same. The MMC Chief Officer, Mr Gomes explained the ill effects of the plastics to the students and informed them about the anti-plastic drive implemented by the council. Mr Mhambre and Mr Naik also spoke on the occasion. Earlier the students organised a rally to create awareness among the people and also had cleanliness drive of plastics in the Sada, Bogda, Jetty localities.
