FIRST UAE INDIAN EXPAT FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEVEN A SIDE EVENT TO COMMENCE IN APRIL
Gulf International Promotions one of the premier sports and entertainment organizers have announced the first UAE Indian Expat Football league to be organized in Dubai. According to Raul Fernandes, Managing Director of Gulf International Promotions, this is the first time that a full-fledged football league is being organized for Indian Expatriates. The league will be played at the Dubai Club for Special Sports near Al Mulla Plaza and games will be held every Saturday from 8pm. A maximum of sixteen teams will be accepted in this first seven a side league venture and the event will be played on a league cum knockout basis. Teams will play one game a night with the top eight teams qualifying for the main knock-out round while the bottom eight teams will play in the Plate knock out round. The finals are scheduled for 8 June. This is the best time to organize the tournament with teams showing a lot of interest as this is the year of the World Cup stated Fernandes. The tournament is open to all clubs, companies, hotels etc with the only criteria being that all players must be Indian Nationals or of Indian Origin. Fernandes further stated that similar leagues will be organized for other Nationalities in the near future.
