Riots: Muslim panel meets Union minister NT Staff Reporter Panaji March 7: The delegation of the Federation of Muslim Jamaats and Associations led by Mr M K Sheikh today called on the Union Minister of State, Mr Sri Prakash Jaiswal and urged him to direct the state government to release interim relief to the riots victims of Sanvordem-Curchorem. Mr Sheikh told this paper that the delegation held an half an hour meeting with the Union minister at the Chief Minister's official residence at Altinho. Mr Sheikh said the delegation urged the minister to impress upon the state government to release the interim relief to the riots victims immediately pending final assessment. Mr Sheikh said the victims needed immediate relief as the rioters had ransacked shops and burnt vehicles. The government, Mr Sheikh said could undertake this exercise which would give great relief to the victims of the riots. The other members of the delegation included Mr Mustafa Kadar, Mr Abdul Rehman Khan, Mr Saifulla Khan, Mr Mohsin Khan and others. Meanwhile, the Chief MInister, Mr Pratapsing Rane will visit the strife-torn areas of Sanvordem-Curchorem and meet the affected victims. The government has directed the district machinery to assess the damage caused to the properties and the houses of the riot victims.
