"Constantino Xavier" responded : Interesting how you first claim to work only on a basis of facts, and then, one sentence later, claim to "know the truth", and then, two sentences later, state that you "only" have "loyalty". Not to speak about "knowing the truth" (I would like you to introduce me to her, one day) loyalty is a tremendous obstacle to those who want to relate with facts. In fact, there can be no loyalty if you reallly want to devote yourself to facts. An exception would be, of course, a strict loyalty to facts . So to whom are *you* loyal to? And on what facts do you base your loyalty upon? For the sake of Dabolim, be at least loyal in your answer. Enough of mopping Goans. === jc's two cents bit Bravo Tino! I suggest that we look at "LOYALTY" in two separate frames # 1: Loyalty to Religion / Nation / School / Group / Village / Self Interest etc and # 2: Loyalty to what is Fair, Just and True, and the Rule of Law Over the last few months, I have observed on GoaNet, the unflinching "loyalty" of some people to # 1. They are willing to accept anything in the name of Type #1 "loyalty". That "anything" could mean LYING, SPINNING and even an attitude of "I don't care ..." If that is the "loyalty" that is being recommended, there is NO need to complain about the activities of the politicians, of terrorists, & of dictators. There is no need for International Law, Agreements, or Conventions. There is also NO Need to respect private property OR the need to be OPEN and ACCOUNTABLE in a DEMOCRACY. It is only OK to say ... " I will do what I want...because I can ....Tum Kitem Kortolloi? " Gilbert Menezes, his 'golf expectations and canteen facilities' apart, will do well (I believe) to ask himself : Was Dabolim Airport a Civilian Airport at the time of the Invasion / Annexation / Absorption ? IF so ...... How did it cease to become Civilian ? I'd add this ..... IF Dabolim (or the Porvorim plateau) was essential to the defense needs of the Navy, Could They NOT have leveled with Goans ? Does he believe that any reasonable Goan would have denied them the appropriate use of Dabolim ....IF there was that basic decency? How different is all this from the Squatters who come and plant their hut in your yard ....and claim they own the land (panchayat certificate et al) BTW: After reading Gilbert's line of thought, I am beginning to realize that Mao might have been right about Tibet, and amcho Mario Goveia ...about everything he writes on current affairs. sincerely jc Someone who believes that Doctors, Bus Drivers, Two Wheel riders and regular Margao Pedestrians also have High Risk existence. They too should have "canteen" facilities.
