Here is this week's report card for your son Mario, currently a student
at Toledo Correctional High:
1. HISTORY: Fails: Rahul Gandhi is the great-grandson (NOT grandson) of the
former Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru (cf. GoaNet Dig. No. 455,
msg. 13).
2. ENGLISH: Fails: Noun misused as verb "...Indian traffic will 'trend'
towards...."
(cf. Goanet Dig. No. 457, msg. 5).
3. SPELLINGS: Fails: Verb mis-spelt as noun "......throwing 'thrash'
wherever
convenient..." (cf. GoaNet Dig. No. 457, msg. 5).
4. VOCABULARY: Fails: hackneyed & repetitive, narrow band consisting mainly
of "rant; invective; debate; substance; snide; sarcasm; I'm; US; citizen;"
5. COMPREHENSION: Fails: to grasp basic concepts of transmigration, debate,
fora, reservationist policies etc.
6. EYESIGHT: Fails: to see beyond the end of his nose. Severe case of tunnel
vision. Myopic.
7. CO-ORD: Fails: marked ataxial dyslexia e.g. continues to read 'PIO' as
'NRI'.
Possible signs of advanced ADHD.
8. PSE: Pass: borderline. Your son continues to make repeated advances to
female classmates e.g. Elisabeth C, Melinda P, Sonia G, without much
success.
9. GEOGRAPHY: Fails: mixes up the contours of 3 continents in a deluded
reference to his 'ancestry'.
10. CREATIVITY: Fails: shows little or no originality in his work or
interactive
debate with class-mates.
Your son is undoubtedly talented in many areas (unperceived by us). As a
mother, your love for him can be nothing but unbounded. Though his
presence in class continues to be disruptive, we make all efforts to endear
him to ourselves, for this world is made up of many types. As to his
grammatical
deficiencies, may I suggest a copy of Fowler's "Usage" be purchased for his
ready reference ? I am sure his next report will show marked improvement.
