DSilvas Jinn to be staged in Dubai HERALD NEWS DESK PANJIM, JUNE 17 Jinn a Konkani play, written and directed by John DSilva which is currently running to packed houses will be staged at Al- Nasser Leisure Land Hall, Dubai on July 13 at 8.30 pm. Jinn is with a well knit plot with many intriguing twists and turns There are a few noteworthy aspects of this tiatr which make it unique and deserve a special mention.
Unlike other tiatrs, the main who character of the story is not seen on the stage at any point of time and there is no village in the play . Touching background music played on the synthesizer which help in maintaining the continuity of the dialogues and adds a touch of class to the overall performance. The script writer of this tiatr has taken utmost care to use selective and flawless dialogues only at appropriate place and timers far as the performances of the actors are concerned Carmen once again proves that she can fit into any type of a role with ease in facial expressions, Meeta lives upto her character of a rich widow, Elvis as a blind man in the first half and later on as a businessman is natural to the core . Mathew Araujo plays a sensible tragedy role, Peter de Pedaa sings the opening chorus with and also performs the role of a poor father convincingly. Well known singer Xavier Gomes also pitches in with a small but valuable role of a doctor while the Elvis de Sinquelim plays a good Samaritan. Jinn is it has eight songs. Some of the songs highlight the spate of robberies in Goan churches and chapels and the inefficiency of the concerned authorities to nab the culprits and the how gossips can cause disasters in happy families. There are also two comedy solos, one by John which hits out hard at our politicians and another by comedian Selvy which depicts the character of a miser landlord, both the solos get an in core there is also a beautiful comedy quartet by Xavier, Elvis, Peter and Selvy which gets an encore several times and can easily be termed as the best of the season in that category. Two comedy sequences by John DSilva, comedian Selvy and the two stage managers Socorro and Remmie ensure a laugh riot from the beginning . Music written and arranged by Manu is performed by Manu on trumpet, John Sequeira on saxaphone, Jose de Areal on key board, Lawry on bass and Aniceto on drums .
