South Goa Public Interest Action Group (SGPIAG) a registered NGO based in Margao,Salcete, South Goa District , sought the clarification from IATA Geneva on 15 May, 2006 on ----whether the Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India based CMTES Course in Aviation & Hospitality School ( ISO 9001 -2000 certified Organisation)imparting education in a) Diploma in Cabin Crew & Hospitality Management at : 3rd Floor,Niana Plaza above Dr Antonio Gracias Nursing Home Near Police Station Margao Goa India Email id is [EMAIL PROTECTED] telephone Numbers +91 0832 2730873 27573721 +91 3097170 (as advertised on the local English daily Herald dated 15.5.2006 and others ) is a STATEGIC PARTNER of the international organisation IATA and if so? a) what does Strategic Partner signify? b) whether they have been authorised the use of their IATA logo, and if so the order and date under which such permission has been granted?
The information was sought to ascertain the genuinity or otherwise of the credentials of the Institution. The reason being that another Institution M/s Frankfinn were served the "cease and desist" legal notice by IATA for misuse of their logo when this NGO SGPIAG brought the same to their notice in June 2005. ******************************************************* 20 Sep 2005 01:19:45 -0400 Dear Terence, Just a note to advise that this school, Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training has applied for IATA/UFTAA authorisation to tutor the IATA/UFTAA Travel and Tourism Training Programme and their application is under review. Until authorisation is granted to the school, a cease and desist letter has been sent to the school by our legal council. IATA does not offer training in the field of flight attending. Sincerely, Adelia ******************************************************* Now in a belated clarification (after endless emails) on 14th June 2006, Mr Sarbasis Bhattacharya Sales Manager - India,Marketing & Commercial Services (MACS) New Delhi has issued a clarification on behalf of IATA Geneva and under their directions as under: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 14/06/2006 Dear Mr. Mazarelo, All the information you seek is already posted on our website. I am attaching the links below. http://www.iata.org/training/travel_tourism/tt_info.htm ttp://www.iata.org/training/courses/fiata_programme.htm http://www.iata.org/sp/index.htm I would also like to point out that M/s Frankfinn was JUST a Strategic Partner in In-flight Services and now even that has been withdrawn. The Strategic Partnership Program ONLY allows the use of the Strategic Partner logo AND DOES NOT VALIDATE the training that is being conducted. The program that accredits schools and their training is our IATA UFTAA Accredited Training Centre & IATA FIATA Accredited Training Centre programmes. While the former is for Passenger Fares & Ticketing courses, the latter is for Cargo courses. For any further clarifications, please do feel free to contact us again and we shall be delighted to be of assistance. Many thanks & best regards. SGPIAG therefore WARNS THE STUDENT COMMUNITY to avoid such Institutions like M/s FRANKFINN and M/s CMTES who are operating in Margao and Panaji Goa. Meanwhile we expect the Government of Goa to file a criminal case against these institutions for misleading the students. Will the State Education Coucil members take note of the developments?
