Hi Santosh,

I agree with many points in this post, because they are common sense except for
the first point (see below).

Regarding the point (also made by Cornel), please name five living adults in
this world of 6 billion who are moral. To be moral is to have been and have an
assurance to be without sin. Even if you do not believe in the concept of sin
and the story of garden of Eden (Yea, it is a story), you have to agree that
human nature is sinful. And human nature, even with a more evolved brain, is
animal in nature. Hence it is based on animal instincts, notwithstanding "a
sound biological and evolutionary basis".

Please do not drop some names of people who have written, "Human beings are
moral". That author has as much smarts as you and me. So you-two convince me /
us, theoretically and practically, that / why human beings are moral - with or
without religion. I am sure you love to pay taxes and drive within the speed
limit.

Human beings are capable of living moral lives. That does not mean they do as
a matter of routine or especially if their animal instincts are challenged. If
human beings are moral people and lead moral lives, are part of their human
nature, why does every society have laws, rules and regulations? As you have
said in your post, even ancient societies had moral codes to live by.

Kind Regards, GL

--------------- Santosh Helekar:

1. Morality is a fundamental part of human nature with a sound biological and
evolutionary basis.
