My nname is Derrick Da Costa. I am a son of Goa and I am proud to be a Goan. I went to work in the Middle East because it took four years before I got an offer for a job in Goa. By that time I had made sufficient to buy ahome and a shop in Goa. I remember in Dubai an incident where I spoke with an Official of the Indian Embassy and asked him why our government did not take up for individual cases in the Middle East. The answer I was given was a spineless answer that it was because the situation of all Indians had to be taken into Account. Yet even if an American citizen had comitted murder the American Government fought for them tooth and nail. I was a Graduate when I went and I have a receipt from the Indian Government for a deposit which I had paid for in case my dead body or I had to be repatriated back to India.
Let the Government ask itself why is there such a brain drain and a lot of Goans like myself have left Goa to seek a life in countries like Canada, USA and UK Do you think that we studied in the Devnagiri Script alone? No I studied Hindi but English was my strength and that of every Goan that sought refuge in these countries. Our ministers are a bunch of chauvenistic idiots who only know to butter thier own slices of bread. I am a Best All round student of Damodar College of Commerce and Economics. Look at the corruption in your employment exchange. How many sons of the soil. I mean Goans not outsiders who have taken upresidence in Goa and now call themselves Goans. Give our sons of the soil an opportunity to run Goa not some out of Goa bum. I was aGoan, I am a Goan and I will be a Goan . I am a son of Goan soil. Viva Goa and all my Goan brethren who fight for the Roman script. Do not be frightned. Make the International community aware of your cause.
