I remember the small restuarant in the lane where there was David & Co. The restaurant was opposite the back entrance of Snowflake. It belonged to Timothy, a known bootlegger. He a Mangalorean and his wife a Goan. Timothy was later shoat at and paralyed. He had by then moved to a posh apartment in Cuffe Parade. Not sure if he is still alive. He had many problems with Snowflake, who were my friends. Once he picked up a fight and I happened to be there. I called the Princess Street Police Station where I knew some officers. They went to his house and he, seen that these policemen were not familiar faces as his area came under the Bori Bunder Police Station, he raised a stick. One of the officers later told me that had he struck any of us he would have shot him. They dragged him, almost naked, across the Snowflake floor to their van parked on the front side of Snowflake. Timothy used to pay "apta" (bribe) to the Bori Bunder police, whose head was an anglo-Indian, a tall and beefy man. (I forget his name). Timothy also owned another restaurant in the lane opp Snowflake's front entrance. It is in a gully. Timothy wanted to buy Snowflake but since the owners turned down all his offers he was angry with them. So, he began to harass them.
