For the record, am veg. Almost.... Got "converted" after reading a very convincing Australian animal-liberation book a little more than a decade ago. Have been true to the "faith" since then. My only transgression is fish-eating, which obviously doesn't fit in with this theory. But then, in Goa, you can't be too choosy, since even local Hindu cooking tends to be (solidly) fish-based.
On the other hand, at the risk of being called "not Goan enough", I do enjoy a tasty veg meal (preferably not a rich North Indian one, but a simpler Udupi or South Indian one) from one of those growing number of veg restaurants in Panjim and elsewhere. To one's mind, meat is like sugar. You de-addict yourself and you hardly feel the difference at all! Of course, it's difficult to practice vegetarianism in some parts of the globe. In Cambodia, after a simple meal once, I was surprised to see a signboard in a neighbouring restaurant saying, "No dog-meat served here." Now, that set me thinking. --FN On 12/09/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Message from Kevin Saldanha ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) : > Tucked away in the daily digest of the newsbots' results on Goa was this > nugget.
