I'm just curious: how long has this term been in currency? We have a
lot of Konkani terms which are just copies or adaptations of Hindi,
Sanskritic or Marathi (and in earlier cases English or Portuguese)
terminology. For instance, the word 'computer' and 'comptuerisation'
(sanganak) couldn't have been widely used in any small language for
more than 2-3 decades at best. Likewise, the term "terrorist"
(akantwadi, as against the Hindi 'atankwadi') is of recent currency.
So, how far does "bonkmaro" go? I've also heard the seemingly
Portuguese-influenced "bonquist" version. Mainly used in tourism
circles ... --FN
