Hi Francis, I am firmly convinced that the IITs rank #1 in the world and Stanford University is a close second.
I will be attending the PAN IIT Conference at Powai this year and along with my aging coach Balbir Singh Sr, we will present a paper on "Using Systems Engineering Principles to Win the Olympic Hockey Goald Medal and the Hockey World Cup For India." We are deep into our research these days and I am busy bringing near nonagenerain Balber Singh-ji up to speed in Syatems Engineering. I have already told Pat DeSouza of CGNet and others, that this cutting edge research is already out of bounds for any Pakistanis, Pakistani Goans, Dutch, Germans or Australians for that matter. I also hope to meet with Manohar Parrikar, Ashank Desai and other IITians from Goa and Bandra to discuss strategies to stuff the IITs with all our Goenkars and Bandra Catholic boys -esp. from St. Stanislaus High School . I think we will conduct IIT and IIT JEE awareness campaigns to start with, in Goa and Bandra. Its not going to be a trickle of Goans and Stanislites into IITs anymore - we will have floods of them; and awareness and proper preparation is the key ! In 1976 we also had a Goan topper from the West Zone in the IIT Joint Entrance Exam - he was Desmond D'Souza from St. Mary's Mazagaon. Kevin Nazareth from Bandra - from Mt. Abu and ex-Stanislaus was also somewhere near the top that year. They both went to IIT Bombay. I did get double admission to IIT that year - I used the one to IIT Kharagpur that I earned through my performance in the JEE. I also got direct admission to IIT Bombay because I had got the 8th rank in the Bombay University exam and all the BHA guys like Mr. Syed Naqvi, Mr. Sacru Menezes, and Mr. Pandey wanted me to stay in Bombay after the Jr. national Hockey Tournament - However I had family and friends in Calcutta and IIT Kharagpur and I wanted to be as far away from home as I could. Also, the India Hockey Goalkeeper at the time Bir Bahadur Chettri was from East Frontier Rifles (the Gorkha Brigade) and their army base at Ghatsila was next door to IIT Kharagpur. So we used to practice a lot together without travelling much. I am going to bring up the issues of these university rankings with the Engineering Deans and University Presidents of the various universities when I meet then in Hawaii this summer - where I am chairing one of the Divisional meetings of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). In my humble opinion, Stanford should rank ahead of MIT and Caltech and the IITs should be ranked #1. Keep in touch Francis, Best Regards, Dr. Carmo D'Cruz, A Very Proud Goan IITian, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. >From: "Francis Rodrigues" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: RE: FWD: re.
