Perhaps you are unaware that the dictatorial
Portuguese were just as paranoid, maybe even more so.
In the years before the liberation of Goa one of my
cousins used to broadcast anti-Portuguese propaganda
into Goa from Savantwadi. Because of this our whole
family were "blackballed" by Goa's Portuguese masters
and were threatened with arrest for sedition if we
went to Goa. Only after the Portuguese were kicked
out in 1961 was I finally able to go there after
several years.
