You should rise above such tactics. How do you know that I'm a "reluctant Goan"? Because I call it as I see it? In that case every person who ever says something about Goa that doesn't agree with your perspective should have his loyalty questioned. Secondly, since you claim to be a salt of the earth Goan, you should know that "gaunti" means belonging to the Gaun, which loosely translated means local. In Salcette, we colloquially call our beloved dogs "gaunti", to denote a local breed. The term as part of the word "gaunkari", means indigenous to the location, or as part of a surname, "Gaunkar" also to mean indigenous. So why are you making a brou ha ha out of nothing? Scoring cheap points like this should be beneath you. selma -------------------------------------- --- Sunith D Velho <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Selma writes: > "Everyone there was as Goan as our gaunti dog, patto > ladru." > > If you weren't a Goan(albeit a reluctant one) > yourself, the above > statement would be a grave insult to those Goans > resident in Goa and > anyone proud of his Goan origins. > > For your information: > 1] There are no commonly known Goan breeds of Dog. > 2] "Gaunti" is used > by most people to refer to the origins of food.
