The tournament is organized under the auspices of Kuwait Indian Football Federation and officiated by Indian Football Referees Association. The main officials of the day were Diego Rosario, Sarto Baptista, Alvaro Dias and C.O.John. AVC were in full flow against Veterans XI and won convincingly 4-0 while CRC Chinchinim stopped Navelim at just 4 goals. Striker Kevin Vaz was AVC's key player scoring two goals. The experience of Veteran XI players Maurice D' Costa, Benny, Teddy Pinto and Cajetan Godinho could do little as AVC added 2 more goals through Molvito Mascarenhas and Braulio Rodrigues; Veterans XI goalkeeper Kamal Basha committed sheer blunders to let in the last 2 goals - one almost from a zero angle. But despite dominating much of the contest, AVC were forced to rely on their substitute goalkeeper substituting Alvaro Dias for two sensational saves late into the match as Veterans threatened an unlikely comeback. In the match played between host Navelim Youth Centre and CRC Chinchinim, the latter started on a slow 'defense'. NYC youngsters produced several attacking moves within a space of minutes. The ever impressive Simao Gauncar and Ignatius Miranda provided a string of crosses from both flanks. Goalkeeper Anthony came to Chinchinim's rescue when he blocked a header from Ignatius Miranda following a cross by Alfred Pires. CRC only threatened intermittently but in the first half a powerful shot from Watson looked goal-bound until goalkeeper Britto managed to tip off the ball over the bar. NYC took the lead through star striker Cruzedio Rodriogues midway into the first half; Ignatius increased the lead five minutes later. Cruzedio scored two more goals in the second session -- one of them a penalty. Navelim missed out on a couple of more goals at the fag end when a goal scored by Sydney Rodrigues was nullified as offside, and another hot shot by the same striker rebounded off the goalpost. Final score 4-0. In the toughest match of the day Bombay Boys overcame Fahaheel Bros 1-0. Bombay Boys strikers depended mostly on wing attacks but Fahaheel Bros defence was too strong to let anything past them. Fahaheel nearly scored in the fifth minute, but Mustafa's header off Kuttiyar's cross went wide. A minute later, Mustafa had another chance but his shot was saved by Bombay 'keeper Jose Fernandes. Fahaheel came close to scoring again in the 25th minute of the second half but were denied by Bombay Boys keeper Jose who dived sharply to his left to block a close-range shot from Frijeesh Backer. Bombay Boys managed to score the match-winner through Jerry Dias off a quick combined move initiated by John Ferrao and Ashton Fernandes. They almost added a second goal but Melvin narrowly missed as his shot flew just over the bar. In another first round match DHL beat Paradiso 3-1. The match was poised 1-1 at one point with Paradiso trying to get the better of an established DHL. Agnelo Miranda (2 goals), Cruz Silva (1 goal) scored for DHL while Johny Joseph's goal is one of the rare goals scored by Paradiso.
