Hi George
It was nice to know that you were touring in Germany and visited Marx's house (now a museum) where he was born. However, my first question is whether you are likely to pass through London? If so, it would be great to meet you, even if briefly.

Yes, like so many others over the years, I visited Marx's grave in Highgate with its enormous statue on the site. Also, the place where he wrote Das Capital in the British Museum was worth visiting. He largely lived in abject poverty despite financial support, ironically from the capitalist Engels, in the Soho area of central London. Lots of tourists now visit the place that is identified by a plaque. It is a classy Italian restaurant now.

Europe, like many older places, is so full of well preserved historical sites that the cities are rather like museums for culture vultures! I am sure you visited many such sites in your time as a student in London.
Regards
Cornel
PS It was nice to know about Gabe's multi-talented skills including carpentry--a manual skill I wish I also had as well as brick laying! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gabe Menezes" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Goa's premiere mailing list, estb. 1994!" <goanet@lists.goanet.org>

Vidyadhar,
It so happens I was driving by Trier, Germany, today on the way through Mosel wine country (Germany) when I stopped by Trier which is the oldest town in Germany. Although I have studied Marx, I had not paid any attention to his birthplace. I thought of you and Cornel during my visit to his birth house (now a museum) in Trier.
