While the politicians seem to be too power intoxicated
to scrap the Goa Regional Plan 2011 some bureaucrats
may be turning to the hard stuff.

The report of the blood sample of a high-ranking
officer of the Goa Administration which had been sent
for analysis yesterday has confirmed presence of
alcohol.

The Chief Inspector of Factories and Boilers Mr. Suhas
Redkar was yesterday picked up from his office by
Vigilance sleuths and taken for a blood test to
ascertain the complaint against him of being under the
influence of alcohol while on duty.

The officer is also a member of the Goa State
Pollution Board and other high-powered government
committees.

A vigilance department team headed by Police Inspector
Rajendra Prabhudesai landed at the Inspectorate of
Factories and Boilers and took Mr. Redkar to the Goa
Medical College for a blood test to ascertain the
alcohol intake.

I have been visiting the directorate of Factories &
Boilers to pursue a complaint filed by a workman under
the Factories Act. Mr. Suhas Redkar, who is the head
of the department seemed to be regularly coming to the
office under the influence of alcohol a fact that all
the fifty odd staff of the department are fully aware
of.

Yesterday I brought this to the attention of Chief
Secretary Mr. J.P.Singh and Vigilance Secretary Mr.
Diwan Chand following which the vigilance officers
swung into action.

Goa Public Service Commission had recently recommended
that Mr. Suhas Redkar who is currently officiating for
he last one year be confirmed to the post of Chief
Inspector of Factories and Boilers but the concerned
Minister Mr. Luizinho Faleiro has kept the file in
abeyance apparently for not being happy with Mr. Suhas
Redkar’s conduct.

Now the officer may be in for the much deserved
disciplinary action.
