This is due to a "migration to a new infrastructure" likely to be completed by 25th Jan. Below is an explanation on their HomePage. ----------------------- BSNL is pleased to announce the migration of Sancharnet messaging system on to its state of the art IT infrastructure installed in four major cities viz. Bangalore, Mumbai, Noida and Pune. We are trying all possible measures to make migration process completely transparent to our esteemed customers but slight interruption in services during migration is sincerely regretted and your cooperation is highly solicited to complete the activity as early as possible. These are some of the new features added to the Sancharnet email, which will be available once migration process is over:- BSNL has deployed industry standard Anti-virus and Anti-spam solution on the new system to serve you better in this new year and years to come. All Sancharnet emails are now coming to you through new servers. New web mail comes with lots of features like mail forwarding, vacation message, mailing lists, address book, customised page, configuring external email, ... etc. etc. Now mailbox size of 4 MB and 10 MB have been increased to 20 MB and 100 MB. Maximum allowed attachment size is now 2 MB and 5 MB for 20 MB and 100 MB mailbox respectively, which is 1 MB at present, and you can attach maximum 5 numbers of attachments in one email. Maximum number of recipients (including To, Cc, Bcc etc.) in one mail has been increased from 10 to 20. Further we are going to change the domain from sancharnet.in to bsnl.in, but you don't have to worry about the change as you will be able to access your mailbox from both the email addresses ie. [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mailbox will be common for both these addresses. We will issuing further instructions regarding new portal and other settings, till then continue using Sancharnet email from present system. Happy Emailing.......
