Goans have reepresented Kenya at Hockey at the 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972
and 1984 Olympic Games. Aloysius Mendonca represented Kenya at the 1956
Melbourne Olympics, Captained the Kenya Team at the 1960 Rome Olympics and
played in the 1964 Tokyo and 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Four consecutive
Olympics - a fantastic achievement.
Kenya's team in the sixties mainly consisted of Sikhs and Goans. There were
two main clubs in Kenya, both in Nairobi; Sikh Union and Goan Institute.
I have records of Kenya Olympic teams should this assist in your research
etc. I have records of Uganda (1972) and Tanzania (1980) but would have to
cross check names to see if they are Goans.
I keep records of Sikhs (world wide) who have played hockey at Olympic
Games.
