Despite his Goan-sounding name, Paul Gonsalves was from West Bengal.
Some on this list might know of the work he initiated at the group in
Bangalore called Equations (Equatable Tourism Options) in the
'eighties. It played a useful in my view role in shaping the tourism
debate and understanding its impact on states like Goa. -FN

All of you will know me in different capacities, some of you will
know me as Rahul, and others as Rahul, Paul's son.
Papa died on Saturday, the 27th, of a suspected heart attack. He
was 49 years old.
Chayant, Mama and I are in Calcutta, and we have decided to hold
the funeral here, and for him to be buried in Calcutta as well.
There is a church service at 3 p.m. tomorrow (the 1st of
February), at St. John's Church. His father, Bishop Gonsalves
was presbyter at this church for many years, and Papa grew up
here and spent many years in this church. It is a beautiful
building and has extensive grounds that must have provided all
that a childhood required.
Papa will be buried at the Lower Circular Road Cemetery (off Park
Street), not next to, but close to where his older sister
Rebecca, his father and his mother are.
Please do send this on, as I have no access to Papa's extensive
address book, and thus may leave some people out. I do apologise
if this note does not come to you directly. I will write more
fully, shortly.
