The report comes almost nine months after the magisterial inquiry was ordered and almost 11 months after the incident took place. The Chief Secretary Mr. Singh confirmed the submission of the report today and said that it would be examined by the government to see what action has to be taken. The Citizens' Initiatives for Communal Harmony which has been closely following the inquiry ever since it was initiated in May last, has through its convenor Albertina Almeida demanded that the report should be made public forthwith. Almeida said the CICH is hoping for a repot that goes to the bottom of the incident pinpoints lapses and people responsible. ***************************************************************************************** Gomantak Times, 23/2/07, p.2 Govt studies Curchorem violence report: J P Singh Panjim: Chief Secretary J P Singh yesterday said that the government is examining the magisterial enquiry report submitted by North Goa Collector Nikhil Kumar, regarding the communal violence reported at Curchorem and Sanvordem in March last year. "We are examining the report. It will take some time and the government will take a view of it and decide," he said adding that he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane tomorrow, February 24. Rane is presently out of station.
