>From Acaria Almeida and Goa Sudharop....

In connection with our exciting Easter event and "Year of the Environment"
theme, students are
invited to participate in selecting a village in Goa, research environmental
issues that exist,
and provide solutions.

This challenge is open to students of all age groups from Kindergarten to High
School. Work
individually or as a team to submit a “Solution Idea” of protecting the
environment in Goa.
Your
challenge and solution should be presented in the form of a short essay (750
words), PowerPoint
(optional), etc. and should be submitted by April 1st. Each participant will
receive a certificate
from Goa Sudharop.

We would like to share your research findings at our April 8th event in the San
Francisco Bay
Area. You may bring in your exhibit/poster demonstrating your project on the
day of the event or
mail/email your poster to us if you cannot attend. Students will have an
opportunity to share
their findings by identifying the village in Goa they have selected and report
the issues and
solutions.

Parents! Please encourage your child to participate in this challenge. Your
support and time will
contribute an added connection with your child and Goa as well as providing an
educational
experience. This experience is intended to expose our children to do a little
bit of research and
acquaint themselves with their Goan heritage. This serves as a great project
for extended
families, friends in a common area, same grades can be combined, or even a
mixture of grades would
work. With Internet and emails, information is at your fingertips, and 1-2
meetings with your
group will connect you to a new friendship working for the same goal. The goal
of the project is
to work as a community using our talents to challenge problems and present
solutions.

Can this be applied for school credit – as volunteer work? Yes, if your school
will accept, we
can have something written out and they can present it to the coordinator to
see if they are
eligible.
The following have volunteered to be your resource and will assist you to
connect with students in
your area. Please call or email me for their contact information.
