Today India is,no doubt, a sovereign country but our sovereignty , let us assess rather rationally and unemotionally, is not even 70 years old. Before , the sub-continent of India was associated politically and economically with three European nations i.e. Great Britain, France and Portugal.
It can be said that if not us, or our parents ,at least our grand parents were involved with British, French and Portuguese nationalities. Hence it goes without saying that these three nations are not ''' as foreign''' to us as the remaining nations of the world are. Let us hope that our law makers will take this fact in consideration when they are applying citizenship laws and make some concessions and exceptions which they would not otherwise make in the case of all other countries of the world.
