The Herald is now plumbing the depths of the English language even by the standard of that generally written or spoken in Goa.
A cursory glance will get you all kinds of errors that should have been weeded out before publication. Either they have abandoned proofing entirely or the person or persons doing it has/have no fluency or skills whatsoever. On page 2 under 'Gilu's Xaxti Masala' about the Lusofonia Fiasco, xaxitkar (sic) and the reasons are not far too (sic) seek. And in the topic following: too many babs and bais. Luisinhbab (sic) Churchillbab, Aleixobab, Manoharbhai (why not bab), Monicabai and Valankabai but with 'Goa nightingale Lorna' no bai or even bhen is suffixed. The cognoscenti in Goa will tell you that bab or bai is a term for a Goan of respect, used sparingly lest it loses meaning and drowns in sycophancy and certainly not meant for rascals of both genders.
