Great advice, especially in Goa. I have learnt the hard way after losing
several appliances to lighning strikes, despite having surge protectors,
voltage stabilizers and a roof top lighning arrestor.
I have paid the price in lakhs of rupees.
Electric voltage in Goa is erratic. As I sit at the computer with my fan
blowing, it suddenly increased in speed and then came back to normal,
indicating a surge in electric current, even without a storm.
Now when we hear the distant rumbling of thunder, especially when the monsoons
arrive in June and depart in October, we unplug everything, including the
refrigerators. This is a wise precaution to take in Goa.....learnt the hard
hard way.
