A second take on this post. Last week the local papers front page headlines
had screamed out "Navy land in two days". This was about the imminent
transfer of 9 acres of air-side land at Dabolim to AAI for aircraft parking,
apron space etc. The order reportedly had come from no less than the Prime
Minister. That too after a hiatus of 4 years (apparently since Shripad Naik,
Goa MP of the BJP, first proposed it as Minister of state for civil aviation
in Delhi).

A week has gone by and one has not heard a peep about the airport land
transfer. Does any one know anything about this matter? Airline personnel
had complained that they have no idea about the plans for the fresh tranche
of land for the civil enclave. They feared that if planning for its use
begins only now it will take for ever to do something worthwhile with it.
Goa may miss the boat as far as night flights are concerned. And there will
be no respite from afternoon congestion.
