Eric Pinto writes about discovering sarapatel in Recife. In our travels in the North East of Brasil during the world cup we stopped at a very busy restaurant in a city called Joao Pessoa on our way from Recife to Natal. On the buffet table we too discovered the familiar Goan dishes: Sarapatel and arroz doce. Arroz doce was sweet just like mother used to make. I was not brave enough to take on the sarapatel.
