I challenge him to go and say that word to a "black" person in Bronx, Los Aneles and in a community or group of "blacks." I then wanted to hear him or read him, if he's alive to return to Goa. Best of luck, Stephen. Take the CM if you will."
COMMENT: 1: CM Parrikar is right. 2: Stephen Dias is right in stating that the Portuguese (Latin) word for Black is Negro. 3: Stephen Dias is right in pointing out, further, that black Africans lived in Goa. They and other Africans (Siddis) lived in Goa and other parts of the West coast of the subcontinent. 4: In my reading, I have not come across any "White" Africans living in Goa. Accordingly, I am not sure what Mervyn's context is wrt what Stephen wrote. 5: Eugene's post is noted. NOT a good idea for a non-black person to use that word in the US. 6: However, black folks will use that word quite liberally. They even have the UNCF. Guess what the N stands for. When they wish to refer to each other and another person, they would liberally use the N word as in "White Nigger" to mean a white man. jc
