Kerkar on national wildlife board PANJIM: Relentless environmental crusader Rajan Kerkar has become the first Goan to be appointed on the National Wildlife Advisory Board. The board, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advises the government on all issues related to wildlife protection and includes all aspects including ecology and environment related to wildlife.
“ The focus will be more on wildlife conservation,” Rajendra Kerkar told Herald, confirming the news. The tenure of the board is generally for three years. Bhai Kerkar, as he is known, is one of the 10 nonofficial members nominated on the Board. An affidavit stating this was submitted to the Supreme Court by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
