Manohar Parrikar is known to break the rules and go out of the way to
illegally promote the interests of his family and select friends.
Dr Mahesh Sardessai, the father-in-law of Manohar Parrikar’s elder son
Utpal who is Professor of Radiology at Goa Medical College is being very
high-handedly given yet another year’s extension despite there being
extremely competent Associate Professors to head the department. Ironically
during Manohar Parrikar’s first stint as Chief Minister he had got Dr
Mahesh Sardessai’s clinic at Porvorim raided for indulging in private
practice.
In yet another act of nepotism Manohar Parrikar after becoming Chief
Minister in 2012, despite the Medical Council of India rules mandating that
the Senior most Professor should be appointed as Medical Superintendent had
anointed Dr Sunanda Amonkar to the coveted post just because she was the
sister of his close associate, the Panaji computer dealer Nilesh Amonkar.
She was only an Associate Professor in the Medicine department and above
all had no administrative experience at all.
Now sources at the Secretariat reveal that Dr Sunanda Amonkar was told to
offer her resignation as there are behind the scene plans to appoint
Manohar Parrikar’s very relative, the 64 year old Dr Mahesh Sardessai as
the Medical Superintendent of Goa Medical College.
Recently while terminating the services of Avinash Chander as the Chief of
(DRDO) Defence Research and Development Organization, the Defence Minister
Manohar Parrikar claimed it had been done to give opportunity to the
younger generation.
Does Manohar Parrikar have to be reminded that "What's good for the goose is
good for the gander"
