Mate,
Congratulations to them, but with respect, I would expect no
different, as Goans/Gujerathis/Punjabis/Siks etc., have migrated in
BIG NUMBERS to UK/USA/CANADA etc.from India/Pakistan/Uganda/Kenya etc and are now Citizens of these
Countries, without which they could NOT be elected as Members of
Parliament.

Ethnicity has nothing to do with this selection in an Election.

Notwithstanding and with respect if you study the demographics of The
UK Parliament over the years, you will find that many
InNon-Europeans, and those of other Nationalities of Origin or
Ethnicity form India & Pakistan (Anglo Indians/Gujerathis/Punjabis -
Christians/Hindus/Muslims/Sikhs etc.) have made it to High Office over
these many years after the Major Migrations have long been in the UK
Parliament Anglo Indians & Goans have also made it to High Office in
India's Parliaments

So, again with respect, where is the BIG Issue ?

Sincerely
Cecil

Subject: [Goanet-News] Three Goans + one Goan son-in-law in the UK parliament

In cyberspace, comments have come up about the win of three Goans in
the UK Parliament:

Suella Fernandes, 34-year-old barrister. Conservatives
https://twitter.com/suellafernandes [Fareham]
http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/general-election-suella-fernandes-holds-fareham-for-the-tories-1-6732422

Keith Vaz, Labour. Leicester East

Valerie Vaz, Labour. Walsall South

But the one everyone seems to be missing out on is John McDonnell who
retained the Hayes and Harlington Labour Party seat. McDonnell is
Chairman of the Labour Socialist Campaign Group. Also the Labour
Representation Committee, and the "Public Services Not Private Profit
Group". He is also Parliamentary Convenor of the Trade Union
Co-ordinating Group of eight left-wing trade unions representing over
half a million workers. McDonnell attempted to stand for the post of
Labour Party leader following Tony Blair's resignation in 2007 but was
unable to gain sufficient nominations. He was a candidate for Leader
again in 2010 following Gordon Brown's resignation but withdrew in
favour of Diane Abbott. McDonnell married Cynthia Pinto in 1995. (This
info is available on his Wikipedia page.)
Cynthia is the daughter of the ex-Kenya-based (till quite recently)
Betsy Pinto Nunes, who now leads an active life in Goa as an
octogenarian, and even runs Goanet-Femnet, part of the Goanet family!

Congratulations all, hoping to see you do your best... and Goa proud.
