Camillo, I with you 100% when you say 'Here no job is looked down upon'. Few may have been allowed to practice without 're-qualification' is US yet Europe is a different world and Portugal being member of EU may provide endless opportunity to the adventerous. Lack of red tape, the 'bribe-raj, ' excellent medicare is added advantage. David Cameroon might set EU straight as he is trying to be out of EU slavery. MD

However not having these qualifications should not deter the person. What is most essential is the person should be willing to work hard and be ready to take up ANY job especially for a start and not wait to choose a job that he/she may be qualified in and wants. One can gradually rise up as years go by. One has to work hard and wait to get his/her choice job which often may not be easy. So mentally one has to be willing and prepared to take up any job, more so as the salaries are decent. Unlike in India any and every job is respected in Europe and so too the salaries are decent as the minimum salary is set up and assured. Most Goans who have emigrated are doing decently well and have bettered theirs as well as their families' economic and qualify of life. Here no job is looked down upon. Ofcourse if one is a professional then he would get professional's salary which are high while for normal jobs the salary may be comparatively less but surely so much better than in India. Then again the qualify of life cant be compared. Add to this are the other benefits - i.e. no corruption, pollution, bribes. There is discipline good medical facilities, etc. There may be disadvantages but the advantages far outweigh them. As stated earlier we Goans are blessed and privileged to get the Portuguese citizenship while others are jealous of us and are willing to use money and all avenues to get European citizenship and even then it is difficult to get. I am no expert but just sharing my personal views. Camilo Fernandes
