I had the privilege of seeing the movie in Brisbane, Australia recently and was
very impressed by the quality of the production, music and storyline.
Brought back many memories of my younger days in Goa. I highly recommend this
movie to all movie buffs as a MUST SEE movie. It is no wonder it has won 3
National Awards in 2015!!
Well done Bardroy Barrett and hoping to see many more movies like this one in
Konkani.

* A description: Nachom-ia Kumpasar (Let’s dance to the rhythm)
Every land has a story.
A story that seeps through its soul and touches every single generation in a
way that only they know. For Goa, that story is Music…
The voice of Goa is the voice of its music. A lilting narrative that speaks of
human failing and creative triumph, passion and jealousy, love and betrayal all
in the same breath... blown lustily through the brass tubes of a jazz trumpet.
‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’ is a Konkani musical feature film -- a tribute to Goan
Musicians. It celebrates Goan music in the eyes of erstwhile musicians of 1960s
and 70s. It delves into 20 timeless Konkani songs that convey the pitch and
rhythm they made their own.
These formidable musicians with their understanding of Western music changed
Hindi film music forever. Anthony Gonsalves, Sebastian D'Souza & Frank Fernand
were pioneers who introduced fusion orchestral music into Indian compositions.
Other legends collaborated with singers like Mohammed Rafi, Usha Uthup &
Mangeshkar sisters. Bollywood music, till date remains heavily influenced by
trends set by these musicians.
‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’ is a nostalgic recreation of few of these Konkani
musicians -- unrecognized, unappreciated. And unsung.
