It’s going to be almost a month that our dear friend and brave Goan warrior
Fr Bismarque Dias suddenly departed. We need to know how Fr Bismarque died.
But the manner in which the authorities are progressing it only reminds us
of the 2013 infamous Vasco rape case.

Next month on January 14th it will be three years that the Vasco 7 year old
little girl was mercilessly raped in broad day light in the toilet of her
school. While the little girl and her grief stricken parents still
relentlessly quest for justice, the alleged rapist and his accomplice are
still free birds. Despite that heinous crime, the then Chief Minister
Manohar Parrikar did not care to even visit the victim and her grieving
family. It was appalling that he dared show such insensitivity while he
oversaw the methodically hushing up of the case.

This Christmas Fr Bismarque Dias will not be amidst us and for that little
Vasco rape victim it will be yet another dark Christmas. We are living in
times where justice is no longer our right. It has become the privilege of
the rich and well connected.
