--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her Excellency Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha and Goa Biodiversity Board Chairman
It is shocking to read news in Target Goa ( enclosed) that such a thing has come up in Chapora River itself a floating restaurant on Valentine Day, after the exit of Chairman Alina Saldanha from Goa Biodiversity Board ( GSBB), and other board members Celso Dias, Nitin Sawant MS of GSBB, Dr. Joe D'Sousa and Lewinston Martins present Member Secretary of Pollution Control board and others who were doing a good job. After the newly formed group under the Chairmanship of Arlekar, this restaurant " Flor do Mar" has started and who knows what things will come up later. Earlier many projects such as floating hotels, pontoons, dredging of river etc were rejected under the Chairmanship of Alina Saldanha ( as per the minutes of the meeting). The pollution of rivers should also be monitored by Goa State Pollution Control Board for any damage and if necessary a police complaint could be lodged in this respect. This new Board must be strict for all such illegalities including CRZ and NDZ matters before Goa environment, sand dunes, mangroves gets completely devastated, destroyed and killed. Please see that GSBB does an inspection along with the GSPCB in this regard immediately and stop such a menace in the Chapora river itself and if necessary some members must be replaced who do not perform well. Already River Mandovi is full of Casinos. This must be also the responsibility of Captain of Ports. What a shame!
