Dear Gabe,

The issues dearest to the Goan voter(depending on economic background) have
thus far been,

1. Building illegal extensions or structures in existing properties.
2. Converting ancestral/tenanted land from agircultural/forest zones for
commercial use.
3. Ensuring that at least one family member gets a goverment job, so that he
won't have to ever work for his money.
4. Ensuring that 'traditional' occupations like taxi driving and shack
licenses are protected.

Contrary to what you state, the MLA's have done a fantastic job in
addressing the above concerns. Their approval ratings in their
constituenicies would put politicians in the rest of the world to shame.

Issues like how the Government is sleeping over the JNNURM which promises
thousands of crores of rupees for urban development, are not important to a
vast majority of the electorate.

Regards

Sunith Velho
