Bella is from Carona, Aldona, located in North Goa. She currently lives in San Leandro, California with her husband Ernest. They have four children - Anil, Anita, Anibel and Anirudh. She lived in Bombay in her early years and speaks and writes Konkani and Hindi fluently. Bella has a Masters degree from Mysore University and B.Ed. from Bombay University and has been working for the Oakland Unified School District (California) for the last 23 years. Her passion for writing is seen through her contributions of her articles to India West, Catholic Voice and the Two Cents Project of San Francisco Chronicle. Bella is an active volunteer on the Ethnic Council of the Oakland Diocese and in EBASE-Board Member (East Bay Alliance of Sustainable Economy). She serves on the East Bay Alliance for Sustainable Economy Board. She had an active role in the Union holding various positions, including being a founder member/President of Alameda Chapter of APALA (Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance) a national part of AFL-CIO.
