Sorry Frederick,
Absolute hogwash and balderdash. Contrary to this idea
that we are all so different, people the world over
are actually the same, once you strip away the thin
veneer of superficial difference.
I feel bad that this myth of "tolerance of cultural
and religious differences" has been propagated by the
liberals of the world and that for years I've worn the
label proudly on my sleeve. However, more balderdash
is tolerated by the world simply by putting the words
religion or culture infront of absolute injustice.
When someone says be sensitive to their culture, what
they actually mean is please give us the license to
decide what our women should think, how our people
should conform to certain standards set by certain
people.
This maybe hard to believe but the West does not have
a monopoly on indecent behaviour. There are enough
people in the west who also believe in dressing
modestly and not showing affection in public. However,
in the west they don't think it their business to
infringe on the rights of others who don't. And that
is not a cultural difference. It a difference of
exercising undue power by certain sections of society
on others.
