I prefer to use informal verbiage - unless of course, I am complaining to St 
Peter about my pal Dick Cheney.

Personally, I think the word penis is too harsh and is probably intended for 
the exclusive use by priests, doctors, teachers etc. in a formal setting.

Guys - I am none of the above. 

As a side note, you can't live without the Dong if you happen to visit Vietnam. 
As of today's exchange rate, every USD fetches me some ridiculous number of 
dongs!!!

The currency symbol is VND.
