That reminds me of the recent talk I had with the new Consul-General of India, Dinesh Singh, in Toronto. I told him I wanted to apply for Aadhar Card, and he said the consulate doesn't issue the card. It's only available in India.
I had problems getting in a reasonable hotel in Bombay. They asked for Aadhar Card and said they don't know about OCI. I was told to leave from one hotel in Dhobitalao. I was told to go to a five-star hotel. I had to take a taxi and try my luck at YMCA at Museum. They allowed me, but I had to be "instant" member. I am told that travelling from train from Mumbai to Goa for a senior's discount ticket, Aadhar Card is required. But a foreigner's quota is available for those holding foreign passports.
