In reality bharat should discuss the issues of 1961. The Portuguese controversy stems from this date. Telling Goans to bugger off with the Portuguese nationality is outrageous. In Macau the chinese folks in thousands hold Portuguese citizenship and a permanent Macau ID card. With this card they can vote and buy-sell property like pai cho fato. I am not to sure this kind of system is not used in Goa. Everybody would be kushal and live happily ever after. BC
The issue of dual citizenship was discussed by the High-Level Committee, under Dr L.M. Singhvi, MP, and former Ambassador to UK, consitutted by the govenmnt of India in 2000. The committee, if I remember correctly reading its suggestions and recommendations, suggested dual citizenship but it was not accepted by the External Affiars Ministry. Eugene
