DIPA KARMARKAR QUEEN OF HEARTS For the very first time in Inida, a gymnastic athlete GIRL has entered a highly competitive sports arena The previous males participants were in year 1952, 1954, 1956 .She claimed Bronze medal in Glasgow common wealth Games 2013. She would be 23years on Tuesday after participating on Independence day at Rio 2016 and may have looked forward as the birthday gift, Her target was to qualify for the finals and she succeeded in her goals. Her PRODUNOVA move is named after Elena Produnova, a vault of death, extremely dangerous, toughest maneuvers, with highest degree of difficulty in case of mishap and performed only by 4 others so far.
Having been able to be the finalist is in itself is a great achievement for individual efforts and the Country too ,after a long wait of 52 years, thus creating history for girl gymnast..Her competitors were more experienced, exposed and also winners of past performances to her credit. Dipa`s was maiden appearance and sudden climb to steep heights. Hence she was fighting against a wall of concrete, Neverthelss, she was focused and from visual appearances gave her very best. Her best nevertheless has to be measured and compared against other reputed gymnasts from all over the world .In her performance, she did not disappoint hopes and aspirations of millions of Indian supporters, as he came fourth, marginally missing a medal. There was no frustration on her face , as she waited with bathed breadth and accepted the outcome, At that point of time she appeared to be in the reckoning for a piece of precious decorative medal of her life In India there is a monumental struggle to compete with least facilities. In fact she had to rely on improvised apparatus during her training and did not have the luxury of highly sophisticated coach, and external exposure The other competitors undoubtedly were more privileged with all types of support and rigorous, long training under world class supervision, Indians unknowingly expect results at such venues to salvaged the pride of Nation, hungry for oven a single medal somehow. Who had ever heard of Dipa before Olympics and her potential to represent the Country in this highly, skilled, sophisticated sports field. Dipa undoubtedly comes from a humble, financially poor and socially elitist background. In her determination she has opened the doors for others to follow and the Authorities too, to encourage potential athletes with physical facilities, training, maintenance, finance, international exposure and commensurate diet. Dipa has gone so far that was not even dreamed off .She will certainly be an inspiration for others to follow the beaten path to glory and self satisfaction in future, Dipa is young and has lot of reserve potential , which must be nourished, nutured to provide her another opportunity, platform to show case her skill All is not lost by one single Olympics and the Nation is proud of her achievement in spite of trying circumstance and wishes her best in future She missed the mark, agonizingly by a whisker of 0.150 ponits,.
