Brave Indian Navy pilot saves a village before his MiG-29 crashed 8 May, 2007 (FIDSNS) Lieutenant Commander Vikram Chauhan an Indian navy pilot, realising that the IAF MiG-29 aircraft he was flying, had caught fire turned it away from the residential area of Daroli Khurd village in Jalandhar (Punjab) before ejecting out of the aircraft. This feat was confirmed by the villagers who witnessed the scene. **Lt Commander Vikram Chauhan was on an attachment to the IAF to train on the MiG-29. Indian Navy will start recieving MiG-29K from 2008 onwards.** http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/NEWS/newsrf.php?newsid=8655 And the MiG-29K trainers are to be based at Dabolim. Already the IAF has lost 3 MiG-29s to crashes (in 12 months) including the present one at the Navy's hands. We can expect to see a spurt in MiG 29K crashes from 2008 onwards in the Goa area if past experience is anything to go by. Fasten those seat belts (or whatever)!
